Area Focus : Teynampet
Teynampet is a small suburban region that lies towards the south of the Chennai city. Teynampet region features a small commercial centre in the south. The place is inhabited by the residential population, mostly in the south eastern parts of the locality. These small regions have developed into thriving colonies like Veenus Colony and Beethamal Colony. The eastern regions are however provided with quite a number of business enterprises. The entire area, that is Teynampet locality, is surounded by yet other important townships of the city. The neighboring localities for Teynampet include Mylapore, Kotturpuram, Thyagaraya Nagar and Nungambakkam. The region has two major road links, one running from north to south called Anna Salai and the other from east to west called Eldams Road.
The western parts of Teynampet is home to a flourishing number of business and commercial enterprises. Software companies, business houses and banks thrive in the west. The place is replete with office buildings and small commercial enterprises. In the eastern region residential population is dominant. These residential places are marked with small market places and primary public service providing units. Aswini Hospital, which is located just before the confluence of Kasturiranga Road and Cathederal Road, is one primary health care unit catering to the nearby Subbarayan Nagar and Teynampet at large. A number of elementary schools are provided in this region.
